SSMS 2014 broken by Visual Studio 2010 SP1 update from Windows Update

I ran a windows update today on my Windows Server 2008 R2 box that is running SQL Server 2014 Standard.  One of the options was for Visual Studio 2010 SP1.  Great, I thought, maybe this will fix the issue with not being able to open certain files with the standalone VS 2010 program.  Nope.  On reboot now when I open SSMS (2014) it throws an error:

"object reference not set to an instance of an object"

This occurs several more times and ends with the following error:

Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.IRegistrationService' not found

I set SSMS to log events with the -log flag and found the following in the log file (there were a few different ones but I don't have the file in front of me at the moment):

SetSite failed for package [VsDebugPresentationPackage, Version=10.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a]

I've tried uninstalling all the Visual Studio 2010 components and uninstalling the SSMS tools from SQL Server then putting them back in but no luck, all the same errors are being thrown.

Has anyone run across this and know of a fix?
