I followed the instruction of article Can't install SQL Server by using InstallShield or bootstrapping application because it applies to updates too. I ran the following command after downloading the SP2:
E:\TEMP\Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Service Pack 2 (KB2958429)>AMD64-en-sqlserver2012sp2-kb2958429-x64-enu_de8354a626886cf7348a95c3fd89012b711d6818.exe /SkipInstallerRunCheck
It goes through the multiple pre-installation steps without any problem, and started installation. After a while, it showed the
