SQL server 2008 R2 Core License

Hi,

We have purchased 2 core licence, our admin has installed SQL server Database engine and the client components in one server and installed the client tools in another server.

when we install a database engine we have consumed one core license.

since we installed the client tools in another server did we loose the another core license or still we can consume the second core license.

I understand from the below document link, the client tools are free.

we had this confusion since when we tried to install the client tools we still had to provide the product key.

can you pls. help us to understand. if we install only client tools on different machines will we loose that number of core license.
