I have a site using Microsoft Dynamics SL 2011. They are on a Windows 2008 R2 server with 8 GB of ram with SQL 2008 r2. SL Performance has been slow with the server showing 95% utilization. Task manager shows SQL using 7 GB of memory.
They would like to add more RAM but are concerned that adding RAM alone will not resolve the problem. They are concerned even as RAM is added that SQL will continue to "Hog" resources, and believe memory allocated to SQL should be limited.
Given those concerns, can anyone provide some suggestions for adding RAM and comment as to if there is a valid reason to limit the amont of memory used by SQL? Please advise. I look forward to a reply.
